Interview: War Drum Syndicate

Recently, DutchMetalManiac’s Tim van Velthuysen interviewed War Drum Syndicate.

Hey, how are you?
Can you tell us something about the history of War Drum Syndicate?

We (lead vocalist Chieftain Hawks & guitarist Mike Laws) originated War Drum Syndicate in 2016 as a duo songwriting team with intentions to complete a full lineup adding a bassist and drummer, in which we succeeded. We have completed our debut EP Premise of the Enlightened – due to drop this Fall and have broke ice with a few awesome shows. We are a fresh new band and ready to keep growing.

For people not knowing War Drum Syndicate (yet), how would you describe your music?

We are rock/metal/experimental. Groovy, raw, intense, captivating, rhythmic, melodic, original.

When someone doesn’t know War Drum Syndicate yet and you can choose one of your songs to present yourself, which song would that be?

Agitation to the Plates, it’s about being on the bottom, in the back, underground, unheard, unseen, ignored but being comfortable with it..

What makes War Drum Syndicate unique?

We have our own sound.

Any future plans you can tell us something about?

We plan on performing some huge festivals in 2021, shooting some music videos, will be in studio tracking for follow up album and many other things we can’t wait to announce soon!

Any upcoming gigs for War Drum Syndicate? Maybe coming to The Netherlands?

Currently, we are not booked for gigs. We have just finished our debut album and starting to release singles. Festivals and many other gigs/shows coming soon, 2021!! We would most definitely love and be honored to come to The Netherlands and perform our music for all the amazing people there!!!! Just let us know where and when!! 😉

How do you think your life would be without music?

Terrible, just plain terrible..

What advice would you give to young and starting bands?

Don’t get caught up in the hype, focus on your craft, set the bar high and never give up!!

Let us tell something about the new track/video.

It’s a laid back rocker with a huge catchy chorus, it’s about when people make up lies to burn you down but you always rise above the ashes like the Phoenix.
